Montgomery Taylor & Company has hired a new receptionist, and so Rachel Harlin has shifted into a new role as the Administrative Assistant. Rachel has been with us for just over a year. She will now be delivering tax returns to our clients during tax season along with assisting clients with investment management and some internal bookkeeping. She has enjoyed working with the firm and has proven to be a strong asset.
Rachel has been busy keeping up with her family the last few months. Her oldest daughter is attending Santa Rosa High school and is in the Visual Fine Arts Program. This alone seems to make life a bit more hectic. The other girls are also continuing their drawing, and two of them are playing the violin, viola, and in the school choir. None of the girls will be home for Thanksgiving, so Rachel and her husband, Jason, are traveling to Wyoming to see her family. She hasn’t been home in over two years! In contrast, she is looking forward to a boisterous Christmas as all eight girls will be home!
We welcomed Vivian Chen, CPA to our firm in mid-October as the new Accounting Manager. She will be assisting clients with their accounting needs and preparing tax returns during tax season. Vivian completed her Master of Science degree in Accounting from Wayne State University in Michigan in 2010. With over six years of public and private manufacturing company accounting experiences and holding a valid California CPA license, she enjoys helping business owners analyze and understand their business performance and big-picture perspective, and empowering them to be more successful.
Vivian’s husband, Jin, works at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital as a medical physicist in radiation oncology. They’ve known each other since kindergarten and started dating in college. They came to the U.S. pursuing their Master’s and PhD degrees in 2006. Jin finished his PhD degree in Physics and then did some postdoc research at William Beaumont Hospital. Vivian and Jin have an 8-year-old son, Alex, who is in third grade. Alex does a lot of sports including swimming, soccer, and basketball. To keep their Chinese culture, Alex also takes a Chinese class every Sunday in Rohnert Park.
As a family, they like to travel. They visited New York and Washington, DC in 2012; Colorado in 2013; Texas and China in 2014; LA, San Diego, and Alaska in 2015. This summer, they visited Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, and Florida. Their next goal is some resort in Cancun this winter.
Greg Leat is the newest member of our team! He joined us the beginning of November as the Tax Manager. He will prepare and review complex trust, estate, corporation, partnership, and individual income tax returns and assist clients with their tax planning needs.
